Pedagogy Seminar
MTAC Santa Clara County Branch has collaborated with Dr. Ya Liang Chang to present Piano Pedagogy Seminars for our members. This seminar is designed specifically for teachers. It focuses on a practical pedagogical approach that covers various teaching aspects from beginner to early advanced level students.
Seminars are led by Dr. Ya Liang Chang, D.M.A./NCTM.
Dr. Chang is an active pedagogue, adjudicator, and concert pianist, and has received invitations from and presented pedagogical sessions and lecture-recitals at both national and international conferences that include various Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) State Conferences, University Pedagogy Symposiums, Music Teachers’ Association of California (MTAC) Branch Programs and Convention, as well as International Society for Music Education 31st World Conference.
Each seminar session is 90 minutes in length. Sessions are interactive, including a lecture on a specific topic and a group discussion to address individual concerns. The seminar meets once a week and is five or six weeks in duration. The seminar is currently offered through Zoom meetings. The meetings are recorded and can be viewed by participants a few days after the meeting.
