Certificate of Merit
The Music Teachers’ Association of California® (MTAC) sponsors the music study program Certificate of Merit® (CM). The program provides a standard of curriculum that requires students to strive for focused musical excellence in performance, technique, ear training, sight reading/singing, and music theory. It is an excellent program designed to give students a well-balanced music education. More information is available on the MTAC Website.
Teachers:
If you choose to enroll your students in the program, there are syllabi available from the MTAC store for all disciplines.
Evaluation will be conducted online and managed at the state level. For more information on how evaluations will be handled including sight reading, theory and ear training, please sign on to new.mtac.org and check your teacher portal.
The state is preparing a set of training videos that will be available in your portal for both the teacher and student to help you register students and to prepare for the evaluations.

Go to www.mtac.org, click on LOGIN in the top menu, enter your login credentials, hover or click on your login name at the top right, and click on My Profile. Make sure your email address is correct or edit it if necessary. This email address is the way that the State will communicate information about Certificate of Merit.
